Getting the best out of any effort is always desirable. Every one works out to obtain such results. However, due to subjugation of certain qualities, some people tend to lose their confidence. This would prove to be a major blow to their prospective career. As such, they will not be able to reap the maximum benefit of their efforts. This would further prove to be an impediment for their growth itself.
So, one should start doing systematic planning to avoid such abruptions in their career. Just dreaming that someone would come to support their cause would only land them to further troubles. They should understand their own shortcomings. Once such identification is done, they need to plan for overcoming those shortcomings. Before anyone could even realize that some qualities need to be polished, you need to take action. You should mend them towards your benefit.
This may look to be highly difficult and unconquerable. But, still, it can be possible through rigorous planning. You need to plan beforehand for every action of yours. Just as you plan for appearing in an examination, you also need to plan for your job trials. Every correspondence and communication should be pre-rehearsed. Then only your Job Resumes can fetch optimal openings.

Fulfill the Practical Dream of Settling in Your Life through our Graduate Resume.

Dreams are unlimited. If you are in stage 1, you think of going to the next stage. Slowly, you tend to extend further. In this way, irrespective of whatever you have achieved, you still want to only go up. For that sake, you try to pull together all the means at your disposal.

Unfortunately, practicalities are quite different. You may feel like reaching the top by securing good education. But, fortune may not favor you. You may have to leave your education with a mere graduation itself.

On top of that, you may also find your family conditions so weird that you are forced to take up a job immediately. There is nothing wrong in doing so. After all, you should feel satisfied and proud that you understand your family responsibilities.

It may also be the case that with your cleverness, you may tend to rise to higher levels in future. For that, the salary you earn may become the investment for your future studies. These all and many more possibilities like bringing up your younger ones and taking care of elders can all be satisfied. The only thing required is a decent job which is stable in nature and worth taking up to fulfill all your needs.

Acquiring such a job is not so easy. It could be a means of your life time settlement. As such, you need to toil hard for it. You need to follow below mentioned steps:

• Enquire about the company credentials, employee turnover, payment periods and other HR related issues. This is the first and important point to be considered. It is to understand your future position in that company.

• Enquire about the positions vacant in that company and check whether you are eligible for them. A graduate usually would be eligible for administration jobs.

• Check for the company’s longevity to ensure that it is a stable organization.

• Find out what responsibilities which need to be handled for that particular position. If you feel that you lack some of the basic skill sets, try to improve them within a short period.

• When all above points are through, you need to plan for the process of applying for the company.

Applying for the company means preparing:

• A cover letter
• A resume and
• Follow up/Thank you letters in future.

Many think that preparing these formats is a herculean task. Only preparing is not enough. It should be well written so that the employer would be convinced. Though, there is a degree of truth in these conceptions, the reality is quite different.

Just as you learn any art, you also need to learn the art of writing resumes and cover letters. You need to put yourself in the shoes of the prospective employer and try to understand his priorities. Then, you should be able to highlight those points subtly while giving other details also.

This type of writing cannot be achievable by all. It needs some practice. For such a practice, you can login to our site. There you can find many samples of:

• Resumes,
• Cover letters and
• Other related correspondence.

These can help you achieve your goal of communicating effectively and getting settled in your job. If by any means, you find difficulty still, you can order for our professional resume writing services. They are quite affordable.
In this way, you can Fulfill the Practical Dream of Settling in Your Life Through our Graduate Resume.

Resumes are documents that people use when applying for job openings. There are many ways to write a resume and there are also different types of resumes to fit different needs. Here are five different types of professional resumes that are widely used by job seekers today.

A chronological resume emphasizes on a candidate’s strong and solid work history. This type of resume displays the candidate’s work history in a reverse chronological order. The list starts from the candidate’s most recent work down to his first. Most employers prefer this type of format for 3 reasons.

First, employers can easily spot the growth of your career – if you had been improving or not, how fast or slow you are moving through job positions etc.. Second, it is easy for employers to see if you have been “job hopping” or “company hopping”. Lastly, employers are able to see the positions you have handled in your previous work as well as how long have you been in those positions.

A functional resume focuses on a candidate’s skills, abilities and experience. Although this type of format appears suspicious to some employers, this is exactly the type of resume that other employers want to see when looking for job candidates.

The eyes of employers are always on the look out for individuals with multiple skills sets for they are capable of handling different jobs at any given time. If you want to showcase and impress an employer your skill sets, using this format is the way to go. This particular format is also the best one to use when you are trying to shift careers or is trying to hide gaps in one’s employment history.

A combination resume allows a candidate to show his or her impressive work background as well as the functionality of their multiple skill sets for it combines the strengths of both chronological and functional resume.

Almost similar to the combination resume is the targeted resume. This format also allows the candidate to mix both the chronological and functional formats together. Unlike the combination format where everything is included, a targeted resume allows the candidate to omit unnecessary information and include only the relevant information needed in order to perfectly meet with the requirements of your targeted employer.

Lastly, a mini resume contains very little information but it is designed carefully to summarize a candidate’s qualifications. This type of resume is often given by candidates who refer other individuals upon request by their employers. This type of resume is also widely used for networking purposes.

Cover letters are used to introduce and support your resume or curriculum vitae. This document has only one purpose – and that purpose is to stir up some interest upon your reader and have them read your attached document which is your resume or curriculum vitae.

Cover letters should be tailored or personalized to fit one specific employer’s needs. This is an important factor if you want to be successful in making your cover letter effective in grabbing your reader’s attention.

A cover letter has 5 important parts. These include:

1.) the heading
2.) the destination
3.) the salutation
4.) the body
5.) the signature

The heading should contain 4 important elements. First would be the date, second would be your full name, third would be your whole address and fourth would be your contact information.

For the first element, include the date on when you wrote your cover letter. For the second – always use your full name when writing it on your cover letter. Never use aliases or nicknames to represent yourself. As for the third element – which is your address, it should contain the following: street name and number, city, state and postcode. Never use a P.O. Box address for your document. For the last element, do not forget to include your home phone number. If possible, also include your personal number which is in most cases is your mobile number. Followed by your personal e-mail address. Keep in mind that your e-mail address should be professional looking as well as professional sounding.

The destination section also has 4 important elements. First is the full name of your contact person, second would be his/her title, third is the name of their company and last would be the full address of the company.

This section requires a bit of work on your part. You need to conduct a bit of research in order for you to get the information you need. The quickest way to do this is to get online and visit the company’s website. Once there, try to look for the company’s contact information to get in touch with them. Next, call their number and try to reach for the HR department and ask for all the necessary information that you might be needing. Sometimes, you could just ask the receptionist directly for all of these information. If ever they ask why you need such information, just tell them that you need it for your cover letter.

The salutation part is easy once you’ve gone through the destination part. Once you know the name and title of your contact person, use it for the salutation. Avoid using general Dear Sir/Madam or To Whom It May Concern salutations. The best way to make your salutation is to use Dear Mr./Ms. followed by the last name of your contact person. Always use Ms. and not Mrs. regardless if they are single or not. If at any case you can’t get a hold of the name of your contact person, use their title for your salutation.

As for the body of your cover letter, this section should contain 3 important parts in form of paragraphs. The first section should be 1 paragraph stating the reason why you are writing the letter to the employer. Clearly state there the real reason why you wrote to them.

The second part should tell your reader about your experience, qualifications, skills, and abilities. This section can be presented in multiple paragraphs. However, as you construct your paragraphs, be sure that you write the sentences concisely and avoid boring walls of text. Use one to two sentences and a maximum of four for each paragraph and a maximum of two to three paragraphs for the whole body of your letter.

For the last section of your letter’s body, use a closing paragraph to politely close and end your letter. Your closing paragraph should contain 3 important elements. The first one is to thank you reader for his or her time for reading your cover letter. The second one is a positive assumption or an open invitation for a possible interview. And lastly, tell them that you have an attachment along with your cover letter.

Like it was mentioned above, thanking your reader is a must. Keep in mind that they still have to go through a lot more cover letters, resumes and/or curriculum vitaes so it is just right for you to thank them for reading yours. Next, be assertive and tell them that you are available for a possible interview to discuss things further with them any time soon. An impression of you being eager to work for them is never a bad thing. For your last sentence, mention to them that you had attached or enclosed your resume or curriculum vitae together with your cover letter so that they could further examine it.

As for the signature, this section should have 3 parts. A closing remark, your full name and signature and lastly, an attachment or enclosure.

End your letter by putting the word/s “sincerely” or “”sincerely yours”. Next, type out your full name but this time you need to include your hand written signature over it. Below your name and signature, write the word “Enclosure” and below it, write down either Resume or Curriculum Vitae depending on which one you had attached to your cover letter.

A technical resume shares one thing in common with all the other resume types. In order to be effective, you need to impress your reader within 20 seconds and keep them interested until the very last word of your presentation. To achieve this, it is critical for your resume to have a very powerful introduction.

For technical or IT based resumes, there are two kinds of introduction that you could use. It could either be an Objective Statement or a Headline Statement.

An objective statement immediately tells your reader the type of position you are currently targeting. Also, this type of opening does not tell your employer what you can do for them. Instead, it tells your future employer what you want from them. That is the reason why this type of opening statement is best used by individuals who who have limited or no professional work experience at all.

A headline statement can be defined as a simple and concise statement that brings together an overview of your career experience.

After your objective statement, it is time for you to work your work experience section or body of your resume. There are various formats that you could use for this section but in this guide, we will just tackle the most common type of format that is being used to showcase one’s work experience.

Start out with a heading that consists of the following:

1.) the name of the company you had worked for
2.) the address or location of the company
3.) your job title or position
4.) the inclusive dates of employment

After that, you should include your responsibilities and achievements under each entry. It is also possible to include multiple positions or titles if it is applicable. If you are unsure of the exact dates involved with each entry, you could just simply use the year as a complete substitute to eliminate the months.

When it comes to showcasing your IT based skills, the good technique is to have a detailed outline of all your technical skills and divide them accordingly into their respective categories. The most common and basic presentation is as follows:

1.) System (the operating systems)
2.) Hardware (could be servers, network hubs or routers)
3.) Software (the different programs that you are capable of using with great proficiency)
4.) Languages (the different computer languages such as HTML or C++)

A good tip when structuring your skills section is to have at least have three items under one sub heading. If you only have one or two items to be listed under one subheading, you can just exclude them or still include them unless you really are proficient with it.

An educational background section for your resume can somewhat be left out. Unless of course if you are using an entry-level resume. Usually for this type of resume, the information being contained under this field is limited to the college courses related to the job position that you are applying for. Unless you are entering an academic field, it is better for you to have more information under your work experience section rather than your educational background section.

Your educational background section should include the following:

1.) the name of the certification or degree you had received
2.) the name of the school, university or institution where you had received the degree
3.) inclusive dates on when you received the certification, training or degree.

Optional information that you could include are the following:

1.) GPA (include only if you have 3.5 GPA or higher)
2.) other awards and honors you had received that is relevant with your performance
3.) scholarships, grants or academic awards that you had received

As opposed to the recommended length of resumes, the length of an IT based or technical resume varies from one candidate to another. IT could also depend on the needs of the employers themselves especially if they are looking for specific details in particular.

One page or two pages, use your best judgment to determine whether you want to include more or less information for your document. Sometimes, the layout themselves could play a big part in determining if one’s resume is effective or not.

Curriculum vitae and resumes are often accompanied by cover letters in order to be successful. The sole purpose of attaching a cover letter together with your resume or curriculum vitae is to establish a good contact with a prospective employer by introducing yourself to them as well as to invite them into reading your attachment by stirring up interest towards them.

As the old saying goes, “First impressions last.” With this being said, it is very important for your cover letter to be capable of making a big impact towards your reader so that you would be contacted by them soon for a possible job interview. Here are a few quick tips on how to make yourself an effective cover letter.

Start out by listing down your personal contact details at the top of your document. This should include your full name, your full address, your e-mail address and at least one contact number. Keep in mind that you should not use any alias or nick names for your resume. Also, never use a P.O. Box address for your resume. Lastly, provide a personal number or mobile number so that your future employers can contact you immediately if ever they decide to give you a shot for an interview.

The next thing you should do is do a little research about the company or group that you are interested in. If you cannot find the information that you need online, try contacting their HR department and then ask for the specific information that you need. Ask for the name of the director or hiring manager so that you could directly address your cover letter to them. It would also be a good idea to know a little more about the company itself so that you could tailor your resume towards the company’s needs and get yourself in tune with their goals.

As for the body of your cover letter, showcase your skills and qualifications by mentioning all of these things to your future employer. Although your cover letter may not contain that much content compared to experienced individuals, use what you have and try to give examples of your skills, talents and achievements in order to impress your reader. Keep in mind that the content of your resume is as valuable as the presentation. Come up with a clean and professional looking layout so that your document can match up or make up with the lack of content.

As for the last or closing paragraph, never forget to thank your reader for their time and be assumptive about a future interview. This is very effective especially for young aspiring candidates for it shows your reader that you are really interested and enthusiastic about working with them in the future.

Before enclosing your resume or curriculum vitae with your cover letter, be sure that you perform some proof reading to rid your document of grammatical flaws and typographical errors. If possible, have a few people comment on your presentation and be sure to be open to any constructive comments that could improve not only your document but also your overall chances of winning an interview.

Majority of students think that the contents of successful curriculum vitae is determined by your overall academic accomplishments. Well, not really. Having an impressive academic record in your curriculum vitae is good but it is really not all about the things happening inside your campus that matters. Potential candidates, should also share something about themselves in their documents. One should also shed some light to show their character, lifestyle and accomplishments outside university walls.

Improving the content of your “Work Experience” section is one of the things that a candidate should do in order to boost his or her curriculum vitae. The contents of your professional, voluntary, and part-time jobs all contribute to your document’s overall value. The information in these particular fields tells your future employer something about you that they generally look for in a candidate without even asking.

Having at least one professional work experience tells your future employer that you are in possession of the basic skills required in most jobs. Also if you have been in multiple jobs, your future employer can easily spot if you are being aligned towards a single path or direction of careers or not. Either way, the bottom line is that you are dedicated in improving not only yourself but also your transferable skills.

Voluntary work shows that you are an individual who is caring and reliable in general. Having multiple items under this section is beneficial especially if you are targeting a position that deals mainly with the community.

Part-time jobs shows your future employer that you are an individual who never passes up on any available opportunity. Multiple items listed under this section gives your reader an impression that you are a fighter in possession of good quality skills who is capable of surviving in the wild.

Aside from work experiences, being a member of different societies, clubs or guilds tells your employer that you have good social skills. Being involved in sports (both individual and team sports) tells your employer that you are disciplined and is a good team player. This can also reflect as you being a great team leader capable of handling key positions and responsibilities.

Never forget to include awards or prizes that you may have won during the course of your education. This award may be big or small but whatever it is, it is never a bad idea to include these things to get yourself ahead of the other applicants.

There’s a whole lot more of information that you can include to make your student curriculum vitae more appealing and interesting to the eyes of potential employers. Just keep in mind that whenever you include such details, be sure that they are relevant or at least, they tell something about you that could really stir interest in the minds of your readers.

As we all know, resumes are required in order for an individual to win an interview with a potential employer. A resume is basically just a summary or introduction of one’s experience and qualifications. It is also used as a marketing tool for your personal skills, abilities and talents.

Similar to a professional resume, a student resume also tends to follow certain rules with regards to formats in order to be effective. Student resumes have two distinct formats. One is the Academic Student Resume while the other is the Skill Based Student Resume.

Based on the name itself, an academic student resume showcases a student’s academic accomplishments. This particular format places a spotlight on the student’s academic honors, grades and work. An academic resume includes the following:

1.) A header containing all the basic contact information of the applicant.
2.) A “qualifications” section to highlight the candidate’s best attributes.
3.) An “academics” section to show all of the candidate’s school achievements listed in a reverse chronological order.
4.) A “work experience” section to present all the jobs that a candidate has done in the past. Paid or volunteered work, it doesn’t really matter.

The other type of format for student resumes is called the skill-based student resume. This particular format is very similar to the skill-based resume used by professionals and experienced individuals. This focuses on a candidate’s special skills and qualifications. A skill-based resume includes the following :

1.) A header similar to an academic resume header.
2.) A “qualifications” section similar to an academic resume qualification’s section.
3.) A specifically titled section to display the candidate’s skills. The name of this section depends upon the skills being presented. For example: You could have “Computer Skills” as your main header then followed by two sub headers entitled “Basic” and “Advanced”. Under the “Basic” subheading, you can enter there “rapid typing or encoding”, “simple picture and video editing”, etc. Now under the “Advanced” subheading, you can include skills like “Graphics Design or Animation using XYZ software”, “Audio Editing and Recording using ABC software”, etc.
4.) A “work experience” section similar to an academic resume’s work experience section.
5.) It is also possible to add in an “academics” section to display your achievements but be sure to include this at the end of your resume since you are focusing on a skill based resume.

Students are often bothered by the task of creating a resume in order to land their first job. Unlike experienced individuals, most students have no idea on what to include in their resumes. Also, majority of them doesn’t have anything to write in their documents especially when it comes to work experience.

As you make your very first resume, student candidates are required to satisfy several conditions in order to make an effective and competent resume.

First of all, a resume should be interesting and inviting. As a matter of fact, resumes only have at least 20 to 30 seconds to make an impact towards its reader. In this very short amount of time, an effective resume is able to convey to its reader how much value this specific candidate has to offer. Keep in mind that employers are only interested in individuals who can contribute to the betterment of their companies and not the other way around.

Next, look for a particular job posting that you are interested in. If possible, try to aim for job openings that are in line with your education. As you do this, be sure to list down the requirements that potential employers are looking for in possible candidates. After that, do a little research and try to ask around what are the elements do employers take in consideration when hiring people. Once you know these things, you can now mold and tailor your resume to address any critical issues that you may come across in creating your resume.

As a student, your resume should include the following information:

1.) Your name, address and contact information
2.) Your educational background
3.) Your skills
4.) Your work experience

With regards to education, be sure that you include important details such as honors and awards especially if they are in tune with the job position or field that you are trying to get in to. Do not forget to include the name of the academy or university that you had been in for these are important to some employers.

Next up would be your applicable skills. The main highlight in your resume as a student is your skills. Don’t just give samples or general statements. Instead, use statements that tells them directly what you are capable of. Always mention specific names of products or software for the eyes of employers are always open towards these things. For example, don’t just say that you are a proficient web designer. Instead, state that you are experienced in using Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Flash for these are the essential tools that you are using when creating layouts for dynamic websites.

As far as work experience is concerned, it is totally acceptably for newly graduates to have no formal work being listed under this section. However, if you could include simple jobs such as baby sitting or any non-serious or voluntary work, they are also acceptable.

For the layout and formatting of your resume, it is best that you search the web for a good number of resume samples and try to incorporate or combine their different styles to make your own. Upon doing this, keep in mind that whatever happens, your layout must be professional looking and reader friendly. Use traditional fonts with ideal size, organized bullets and keyword emphasis so that you reader can easily spot and understand all of the important information that they need to know about you.

One last thing, do not include character references in your main resume. Just indicate at the bottom or latter part of your document the words “References available upon request.” If you do so, be sure to prepare a separate list of references or a reference resume in case they ask you for it.

If you are an experienced individual who has a wide range of skills, writing a resume may not be an easy task. If that’s the case, showing off your skills and talents in the form of a skill based resume may be your best option.

This unusual type of resume format should contain your relevant skills, talents, qualities and achievements that one candidate should include to make an impressive resume. Your work history and educational background can also be added in this type of resume. However, if you decide to include these information in your presentation, be sure that you emphasize or present them in a way wherein a new skill has been acquired or learned in the process.

Usually, this type is resume is best utilized by people who are trying to shift careers or move on to an entirely different direction from where they are currently heading. Similar to a functional resume, it can also hide gaps in your work history. The only difference is that the inclusion of your work history and educational background is completely voluntary when using a skill based resume format.

Here is an example:

Multilingual
By working at different international call centers, countless trainings and years of experience had enabled me to learn and speak foreign languages. Aside from English, I am fluent at conversing in French, Chinese as well as in Japanese.

Here are a few tips that you should consider when writing yourself a skill based resume:

1.)The skills included within your document must be related towards the job position you are currently applying for.
2.)Type out the skills in bold letters so that your reader can quickly spot these critical information.
3.)Try to shed some light on how you came to discover or how you had managed to acquire the said skill. Use keywords to help you emphasize, describe and give life to your examples.

Technically, a skill based resume instantly shows if a candidate has been frequently changing careers. Through this constant change, that specific individual is able to discover hidden skills, learn new skills and further develop the ones that he or she has already had. Although this could be bad to the eyes of some employers, it can also be beneficially good to some especially if that specific employer is able to find all of the things that they require in a candidate.

The biggest drawback of using a skill based resume is the high probability of employers or recruiters not being familiar with the format. Skill based resumes are rare due to fact that 90% of job seekers are using either chronological, functional or combination resume formats for their documents. A skill based resume can also be effective like the other traditional formats as long as it is presented in a professional manner and submitted to the right employer.
