How To Write A Good Cover Letters
Your resume can be an impressive one if you follow correct formatting. A cover letter typically come together with each resume you send to prospective employers. It should be visually appealing in order to catch the employer’s attention. Your letter should also complement and not duplicate your resume. Never send out same cover letter on all jobs you applied for. Your letter should focus on all professional skills and qualities that are relevant for the position. Remember that most employers spend about twenty seconds reading cover letters and thus create first impression.
Here are some tips in writing an effective cover letter.
Be brief and and direct to the point. When writing a cover letter for job application , you have to state the reason why you are applying for that position and the supporting materials should be enclosed.
Create a strong opening paragraph. Make sure that in the first paragraph of your cover letter should state and explain the purpose of the letter.
Avoid using commonly used clichéd phrases like “ I am applying for the position…..”. An employer had read this phrase multiple times, so try to make an opening sentence that is unique.
State in your cover letter what you can do for them. This will demonstrate how your skills and work experiences will make you an asset to the company. Most employers want to know the things you can contribute to make their company more profitable.
Using dynamic language and formatting.
Cover letters must be perfect. A typo, a misspelling-mistakes and a poor printing job will make a poor impression with your cover letter. Remember, absolutely no errors!
Never ever hand write a cover letter! Make use of a computer through Microsoft Word. Make sure to use business font such as Arial and must be printed on a laser printer using black ink only, no colors.
Your cover letter should be one page in length, neat, short and perfectly centered.
Do not fold it. You may opt to use paper clips to attach it to your resume. As much as possible, use an envelop.
