In todays world, the demand for accounting jobs and its salary level are both going through the roof. In any accounting job application process one of the essential part is your cover letter. Whether it is sent via email or through traditional mail, your cover letter is the first impression you will make on your potential new employer. All companies need an accounting personnel and many are craving to be in this position. But how will your accounting cover letter stand out and get noticed in order for you to be one of the candidate for an interview? Here are some tips in writing a get-noticed accounting job cover letter.

The first paragraph of your letter should be reserved for opening including; self-introduction, job-code references if applicable, and greeting. Also, specify what job you’re interested in such as; accountant or accounting specialist or as accountant in charge of accounts receivable. Give specific reason as to why you feel qualified for this position.

Follow up your opening with a brief summary of those characteristics your future employer is looking for. This may include some of your skills such as monitoring revenues and expenditures, journal entry and acting as an auditing liaison.

Include in the body of the cover letter a statement which matches the skills your target employer is seeking with those you possess, the specific experience, skills or accomplishments from your past that dovetail with the requirements of the new job. This data should be bulleted, rather than presented in a solid block of text. The human eye is drawn to bulleted areas, and they provide the data in an easy-to-read format, so that the hiring manager can digest the information from one sentence before moving on to the others.

Write a brief statement of all the qualifications you have beyond your college degree. Many accounting jobs you will encounter nowadays that requires the outstanding completion of all CPA exams, as well as additional accounting licenses. You should create a brief statement including the types of accounting business practices you are most familiar with and how these will translate into the position you are seeking.

Explain how the company will benefit with your specific skills in other areas of accounting. Highlights some practical skills and the knowledge with industry software like Quick Books or Peachtree.

Close your letter with a thank to the addressee and end on a positive note. Proofread the letter for many times to check for the logic, flow, and spelling particularly in your job contact’s name and title and some grammatical errors.
